How To Get Your Name and Message In Front of Thousands of New People
Posted by Laura Roeder | Filed under Social Media
Just threw together a quick video of something that happened last night – this site was hit with a burst of traffic all originating from ONE social media message on twitter that was spread over and over again.
When I say this stuff is easy this is what I mean – it doesn’t have to be difficult to gain a following. This sort of thing happens on social media all the time.
On the most basic level, the only “trick” to this is to give away FANTASTIC content that will get people talking. Oh, and no one is going to tweet about you if you aren’t on twitter!
By request, here’s a link to the tweet mentioned in the video
Yesterday’s Ustream Show on Creating Fame
Posted by Laura Roeder | Filed under Social Media
Update: This is a recording of a live show I previously did on ustream
I had a ton of fun yesterday doing my first LIVE ustream show despite many technical snafus! Thanks for those of you who stuck aroud, ustream’s entire site was down so we weren’t able to get started until about half an hour late but once we did things got cooking!
I did two live website makeovers and answered tooons of questions about promoting your business with social media.

The two sites I critique are Brick Elm Staffing Solutions in the beginning and Global Alchemy Spiritual Life Coaching in the end. (Yup, I decided to pick two VERY different businesses!)
How I Helped Hollywood Actress Brea Grant Create Her Own Fame
Posted by Laura Roeder | Filed under Social Media
Over the past year I’ve worked side-by-side with Brea Grant to create a strong presence and loyal, active fan community on the web. The feedback – and results – have been incredible. Just check out her twitter stream or blog for the proof. Brea receives a constant influx of interview and project requests through her website.
You might be thinking of course it’s easy to do that when you’re a hollywood actress but you’d be surprised – fans are fickle and it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. The truth is that most actors in Brea’s position turn out to be “one hit wonders” – think about every actor in every TV show you’ve ever watched, never to see or hear about again. To make Brea stand out I taught her to use social media in a way that was truly revolutionary for her industry. (Nowadays you see news all the time about Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears, and other celebs on twitter. Brea was truly a pioneer who inspired others in her field.)
This video is a little long but I think you’ll want to watch the whole thing because there is a really cool story inside that actually has nothing to do with Brea’s acting career. She made an entirely unrelated lifelong dream come true using social media (that story starts at 1:55).
