How I Helped Hollywood Actress Brea Grant Create Her Own Fame

Over the past year I’ve worked side-by-side with Brea Grant to create a strong presence and loyal, active fan community on the web. The feedback – and results – have been incredible. Just check out her twitter stream or blog for the proof. Brea receives a constant influx of interview and project requests through her website.

You might be thinking of course it’s easy to do that when you’re a hollywood actress but you’d be surprised – fans are fickle and it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. The truth is that most actors in Brea’s position turn out to be “one hit wonders” – think about every actor in every TV show you’ve ever watched, never to see or hear about again. To make Brea stand out I taught her to use social media in a way that was truly revolutionary for her industry. (Nowadays you see news all the time about Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears, and other celebs on twitter. Brea was truly a pioneer who inspired others in her field.)

This video is a little long but I think you’ll want to watch the whole thing because there is a really cool story inside that actually has nothing to do with Brea’s acting career. She made an entirely unrelated lifelong dream come true using social media (that story starts at 1:55).

I can tell you that Brea was how I got into the whole Twitter “thing”, and to see what it can do, along with some of what Laura has been talking about the past couple of days has been awesome!

Totally stoked about using Twitter in a field where it is already highly used, but smiling about the possibilities.

    Thanks Brea and Laura!

I started following Brea after Greg Grunberg mentioned she was on Twitter and continue to do so, even though I no longer follow Greg. Brea comes across as genuinely charming and intelligent, with a good grasp of rhythm of social media. I never skip anything by Brea or Laura.

Agree with all above. Brea is THE reason I rejoined Twitter and she also intro’d me to TweetDeck which is great!
Her presence online in this way makes her infinitely more ‘real’ than other celebs, love following what she is doing

I never understood people who DIDN’T use social media for self promotion. Why else would someone be interested in talking endlessly and exposing so much of themselves

Im from oz and am a big fan of heroes.
It was only because of finding brea on twitter that i have
become a fan of hers. If she wasn’t on twitter I think
I would of just forgotten her and not even of known her name.

  9. Robyn Quinn @PR4Science Says:

When I began on Twitter I thought, OMG what is the point here? Brea you put into words the point and why social media is important – you are fortunate to have found an ally.
Congratulations to both of you and hope to see the comic coming out soon.
